The Andalusian Healthcare Quality Agency is organising the 2nd Healthcare Challenge with the participation of the Regional Ministry of Education and Sports and the Regional Ministry of Economy, Knowledge, Business and University. Nubentos, together with other technological business initiatives in the field of Health, has joined this challenge that was born to improve the quality of life of diabetic patients in childhood.
Type 1 diabetes is the second most frequent chronic disease in pediatric age and the most frequent autoimmune disease in childhood and adolescence.
In Andalusia there is an estimated pediatric population of approximately 2,500 patients with this type of diabetes, of which about 600 patients are between 3-8 years old, an age at which most children reach autonomy for their own control and administration of the corresponding treatment.
The number of new cases of type 1 diabetes diagnosed per year is progressively increasing worldwide; in Andalusia the number of new cases of type 1 diabetes in the paediatric age group is 300-350 per year.
The 2nd Andalusian Health Challenge Diabetes is an open innovation call for proposals that promotes collaboration between administrations and with different social sectors, to encourage synergies and the creation of innovative projects.
Thus, this challenge aims to find solutions to cover different needs that have been detected among the population of children with type 1 diabetes while they are at school or during the school day, in order to improve the health, quality of life and integration of these minors, which will also have a positive impact on their family environment.
The innovative solution sought is not pre-defined but can come in the form of a mobile application, technological improvement, action protocol, organizational change, or any other proposal that will improve the quality of life of this population, and their family and social environment during the school day.
Nubentos is offered to all participating projects as a technology provider for the efficient integration of the various services, administrations and Apps.
It also provides an innovative solution based on Artificial Intelligence for Diabetes from one of our suppliers. Thanks to this API, the solutions participating in this challenge will be able to have a service capable of predicting the glucose curve of the diabetic child one hour in advance.
In this way, it is possible to anticipate actions to avoid risk situations, significantly improving the management of the disease in the family and in educational institutions.
